Reading Band Session 1 8:00am – 9:00am BH
Read through quality music with the one and only Eugene Migliaro Corporon, renowned conductor of the UNT Wind Symphony.   As director of wind studies, he guides all aspects of the program, including the master and doctoral degrees in wind conducting.  He is co-host with Barry Green on “The Inner Game of Music” video, which focuses on overcoming mental obstacles and achieving one’s full potential as a performer.  Maestro Corporon has recorded over 1000 works, including many premieres and commissions.

    Joe Frank, Plano Community Band, and Robin Owens, Richardson Community Band, lead a discussion on selecting music for your community band or any band.  Learn how to please an audience and grow your musicians at the same time. 
  • Practice Techniques CR
    Music Educator and principal Tuba of the Dallas Winds, Jason Wallace, shares productive and entertaining ways to practice and keep improving as an adult musician.  You might be practicing too much!

    Information technology leaders Jennifer Breitzmann and Marilyn Woodruff show how the Plano Community Band is using different technologies to communicate with members, attract new players, and interact with its audience.  We’ve gone digital!

    Mike Guillory, DFW area marketing executive, explains how to build an audience without breaking the bank.

  • Don’t Be Square CR
    If Stockton Helbing is not playing the drum set, he is busy composing, arranging, producing, educating, recording, and leading musical groups.   He is an adjunct professor of music at the University of North Texas and has performed/ recorded with Maynard Ferguson, Doc Severinson, and many others.  He’s got great stories and will teach us how everyone can play jazz!
