DIRECTOR’S REHEARSAL NOTES FOR NEXT MONDAY NIGHT 10/1/2018

6 weeks until the NOVEMBER 11 concert at the Eisemann and *STILL* LOTS to
do! Tickets are now available on our website. Tell your friends to make
reservations as we expect a huge crowd! Jim said Monday night there are
over 350 reservations.....better get on it!

*From JOE*

We desperately need another percussionist. If anyone in the band knows a
competent percussionist who would like to play on this concert, please
refer him/her to Joe or Jim.

This coming Monday we will be concentrating on *IRON BRIGADE >>* David L.
will be out to listen to his piece to determine if there are any “wrong
notes.”

*COWBOYS* - work the sections you need to get technical with!

*SLAVA* – maintaining tempo and right notes. *Please try to listen to the
YouTube performance of Slava conducted by Bernstein.* Search for *Slava
Overture Bernstein Israeli.* HEY GOOGLE works to find this too! (There is
a political section in the middle you can ignore.)

We will read *THE ROCKETEER**.* Richard should be posting it to the
website very soon.

*From JIM*

Rehearsal on *Flowers* and *MacArthur Park* was much better this week!
Thank you to everyone for your focus and attention to detail to allow us
the opportunity to clean and start working on a quicker tempo.

*We ended the night on Flowers at ~160, so only about 10 short of final
tempo*. As we continued to accelerate, we started to get a bit sloppy in
articulation and rhythmic stability. We will need to play lighter and make
sure that we do not come in late on our entrances. At that pace, if you
enter late, you will not be able to catch up.

We will be sure to read through *Friend Like Me* on Monday night as we
have not seen that for a few weeks*. Please listen to the reference
recording and be prepared to work through it paying attention to the Latin
style that is requested*. Tenor Sax, Horn 3&4 and Trombone 1 have the
melody with Wayne at Letter B. Be sure that we are not slowing down that
staying “on top” of the beat.

We will also be passing out a version of *Someone to Watch Over Me* that
will be performed with Wayne. It is unsure if we will have that as a piano
accompaniment only or if we will use the full band version. Richard should
have your parts posted to the website soon so you can look at your parts
before receiving them on Monday night.

The full band recording is on the PCB website -- you can find the full band
version reference recording at:

Thank you band and have a great remainder to your week.

*Listen, Listen, Listen…….you can ‘HEY GOOGLE’ in the car….so you don’t
have to find the links!*

week. If you can’t find it, let her know, she can resend it to you. J You
will need to print something for Monday night.

PLAYBILL ADVERTISING

The program for the November concert will be in the “PLAYBILL” style. This
will be a slick, glossy program for our 40th Anniversary. We need
advertisers to help pay for this program. Attached is the PCB Advertising
form so you can email it out to take it along with you when you visit
different businesses. Ideas are restaurants, stores, doctors, dentists,
insurance agents. The worst they can say is not this time – so you have a
50-50 shot at getting an ad for us. Go ahead, go out on a limb! You can
do it!
