fits.* Pay particular attention to style, note length, accents and dynamics*

*HINT!*  Work the tricky parts slowly as you increase the tempo to what you
hear on these recordings.

*Cowboys*

*Brass double tongue figures* are still weak and lack definition.  Please
work on this or edit your part!

*Accompaniment figures* still over balancing melodies and solos so that the
band sounds thick and muddy.

*Work to play softer when marked*, give direction to accompaniment lines
and edit numbers of players.  Resting a little will help overall endurance!



*Slava*

*Tempo is going to be a concern.*  We fight tempo for two reasons
>> Technical ability and poor style.  Keep working on the notes (1/4 note =
144+), and really commit to playing short, light and detached on 8ths.
Don’t try to play louder that you can control and make tempo.  Energy is
produced from many things besides volume. *Practicing with a metronome will
help you here!*



*Waltz of the Flowers*

I hope everyone will listen to recordings of this – link above.  Jazz style
at tempo is *crucial*.  Especially work on the center section that the band
“carries” without Wayne.



*NEW MUSIC!! We need to dig into the march **Iron Brigade **and also a
piece we are adding - **Dartmoor.*  *Also we need to get started on *
*Incredibles.*



I thought last week’s rehearsal was excellent and I am really looking
forward to Monday.  We are making good progress!  Thank you for being
prepared for rehearsals!

PLAYBILL ADVERTISING

The program for the November concert will be in the “PLAYBILL” style.  This
will be a slick, glossy program for our 40th Anniversary.  We need
advertisers to help pay for this program.  Attached is the PCB Advertising
form so you can email it out to take it along with you when you visit
different businesses.  Ideas are restaurants, stores, doctors, dentists,
insurance agents.  The worst they can say is not this time – so you have a
50-50 shot at getting an ad for us.  Go ahead, go out on a limb!  You can
do it!


40th ANNIVERSARY CONCERT INFORMATION

be there.
