The Plano Community Band is seeking a new Artistic Director and Principal Conductor.


From our by-laws, the Band Conductor shall:

  1. Direct band at rehearsals and concerts
  2.  Select music for performances.
  3.  Assign Section Leads and if necessary which parts (“chair”) the members will play. 
  4. Prescribe physical seating arrangement for band.
  5. Assist the Event Coordinator in performance arrangements.
  • Schedule:

    • Our season follows the school year, typically beginning in late August and ending in mid-late July.
    • Monday night rehearsals, 7:15 PM – 9:15 PM at John Paul II High School in Plano,
    • One board meeting per month, first Tuesday evening of the month
    • As much time as you’d like to spend on your own selecting and preparing music and working with the Associate Conductor.
    • Presence with the City of Plano Cultural Arts Commission, or other major donors as required
  • Established concert schedule is:
    • Nov: Indoor concert (Eisemann Center or Robinson Fine Arts)
    • Dec: Plano Senior Recreation Center Holiday Concert
    • Feb/Mar: Indoor partner concert (Eisemann Center)
      • Shared with another arts group, with each performing ½ of the show
    • Feb/Mar: Music for Life educational outreach
      • Artistic Director clinics two middle school bands on UIL music
      • PCB members lead sectionals and participate in a side-by-side concert for parents
      • One afternoon/early evening per school
    • Mar: Plano Senior Recreation Center Patrick’s Day Concert
    • Apr: Indoor concert (Eisemann Center)
    • Jun-Jul:
      • Summer concerts, traditionally in Haggard Park
      • Every other week on Monday nights
      • Two concerts in June
      • July 3 Patriotic concert (regardless of day of the week)
      • One or two concerts in July after July 3
