Conducting the PCB for the last nine months has been a tremendous privilege. Jennifer Breitzmann, our band President, keeps asking if I am still having fun and the answer is still an enthusiastic “yes!”. We are currently getting ready for our November 22nd concert at the Eisemann Center. While the majority of this concert will feature transcriptions (original pieces written for orchestra or piano and orchestrated for concert band) we have one new piece that I am rehearsing with the band. “Music for Life” was composed in honor of Tommy Guilbert by Lew Buckley and the Association of Concert Bands. The band had an amazing summer full of emotions that would put anyone through the ringer. After losing Tommy Guilbert (our conductor, artistic director and friend) shortly after our May concert, the band had many things to do. This year for the Plano Community Band will be an exciting one. We have the opportunity to perform for an entirely new audience for the PCB as well as performing with new and returning guest artists.
