Band,

I wanted to again say "Thank You" for your work and dedication over the summer.
I hope you had fun with the four concerts that were put together and I hope you made some good memories as I did during the run.

Last night was a bit warm, but you all handled it wonderfully and the crowd, while smaller than we would have hoped for, thoroughly enjoyed your performance.
I thought the soloists all did a wonderful job and the band as a whole played really well as an accompanying group and as the full ensemble on the other pieces.
I want to thank Janice for putting together a creative and humorous, as well as historical script to help keep everyone interested and entertained between pieces.
I think that the large photo banners that were provided by the city along with the timeline up in the gazebo were very cool and provided more information into the history of Plano.
A huge thank you to all of those that were out early to help setup, those that stayed late to help pack up and of course David for handling the move of everything from the storage unit to the park.
I also want to thank the percussion players for the summer of moving equipment and instruments from the band hall to the park each week and getting everything back to the school following the concert last night. A big thank you to Denise for helping them gain access to allow that to happen.
I also need to thank Chris Gebhardt for his countless number of hours in setup and manning the sound system. His ears really make a difference in how well you sound over the system.
Thank you to all the volunteers and coordinators for wrangling said volunteers. It wouldn't happen without your help.

And band, Thank you for helping me this summer from beginning to end. It was bit daunting when Joe said he was hoping to take the summer off, but you all helped me make the most of it.
I had a great time and I hope that you enjoyed it as much as I did.
>From starting off with Big Band music and Stockton, to having Bob and Zach lead us through the Kid's evening, to having the Chancel choir from Custer Road help us pay tribute to America, to this final concert where we got to show off the talents within the band and provide an evening of history and fun for the City of Plano, it has been a great summer. My heart is full, my arms are tired, but I would not have traded it for anything.

Enjoy the next 6 weeks off from rehearsals. I know I will. That being said, please don't let the instrument get away from you for the entire time. Keep playing while you are away and I look forward to seeing you and Joe when we return on September 11th at JP2.

Musically,

Jim Carter
