Hey Band,

There were many great moments in our Kids Concert.  Congrats to our soloists who continue to do a remarkable job and to the band for withstanding the heat, and a full plate of music to give a good concert.  The audience really enjoyed your music, with many smiles and enthusiastic responses.  I was pleased by how great you sounded at times, and I must admit I have gotten used to that, as you have consistently shown a high level of musicianship.  I would be remiss to not mention some unexpected bumps!  Monday night we had trouble at times playing together and at times handling the key changes on the trio of marches.  The heat, the setup change, the large number of transitions in the pieces and the sheer quantity of music, were probably a factor.  I know we can learn from this and that we will get back to form on the 3rd.  Our music for this concert will be much more familiar.  That being said, we must not take anything for granted.  Please  play through all our music on your own, and continue to work to maintain focus and musical awareness in performance.  Come prepared for Monday night’s rehearsal and be ready to work fast and focused.  Richard has emailed the list of tunes we should have ready for rehearsal.  Most of these you have played many times.  Don’t hesitate to reach out to me with questions or comments.
