Please do NOT share any of this information outside of the PCB Board. This information is provided to help the board make an informed decision when we select the next conductor of the Plano Community Band. </div><div><br></div><div>The Selection Committee completed interviewing the 5 candidates last week. All 5 of them are outstanding musicians and we are honored that they are interested in being our Music Director. It was a difficult decision, but we have narrowed the field to 3 finalists. We believe each of these gentlemen would be a good fit with the Plano Community Band family. </div><div><br></div><div>We considered their musical resumes. We considered their experience at state and national levels. We considered their willingness to take the band wherever the band wants to go. Given their amazing credentials, we then considered their personalities. We selected candidates who we feel are the right fit for the Plano Community Band family. The next Director must be someone with whom you could see yourself enjoying spending an afternoon going through scores, talking about band, or just shooting the breeze. We were not looking for another Tommy Guilbert, as Tommy was one of a kind. We were looking for someone whom we would end up respecting and admiring just as much as we did Tommy, but for his own unique qualities.</div><div><br></div><div>The three finalists are (in alphabetical order): Dick Clardy, Joe Frank, and Mike Lipe. I have attached their responses to the interview questions.</div><div><br></div><div>I have spoken with all 5 candidates and have scheduled the 3 finalists who will be conducting the band in October.</div><div><br></div><div>The selection committee has decided NOT to tell the band who the finalists are in advance. They will be introduced on the night they conduct. We want everyone to come to rehearsal with an open mind about each candidate. Members can share storie” about the candidates after they conduct us. We also don’t want to field any “why didn’t you choose So-and-So” questions at this time. </div><div><br></div><div>Here are each of the finalists’ responses to the interview questions. Again, please keep this information CONFIDENTIAL and only shared among PCB Board members.</div></div><div><br></div><div>If you have an questions or comments about the candidates, we will be discussing them at the next board meeting on October 7, or you may send them to me in advance.</div><div><br></div><div>Thanks,</div><div>Jennifer</div><div><br></div><div><br></div></body></html>
