[Board] FW: Plano Community Band - All American 4th

I am all for a larger audience, but I am concerned with logistics.

Where would we play?  Would we have electricity available for sound and stand lights?
The audience is really spread out – how would they hear?

The band would also need to be prepared to wait a long time to get out of the 
traffic nightmare.

We thought of this once when FUMC asked us to play at the church outside during
the fireworks and the problems outweighed the benefits.

It’s certainly worth talking about.

We would definitely have to get a head count and see if the band is up for both.  But I think it's a great opportunity--hopefully we can get everyone on board for both.

So, we wouldn't do our regular July 3 concert for OUR huge audience?  Not sure I like that idea...but would be up for both the 3rd (great warm-up) and the 4th for the city. Different audiences.

How would that fit into a TBA schedule if we get the invitation?  Everyone knows the Patriotic Music from years of performing.  Last 15 minutes of May rehearsals for July 4 band?

Here’s a little something to think about. COP is interested in us playing at the fireworks show. HUGE audience! HOT!  July 4th falls on a Monday this year, so we would be planning to do the Haggard Park gig in competition with the fireworks?  1st Methodist does their indoor Patriotic Pops concert before the fireworks, but that audience is just a speck compared to the masses on the hillside. Lot’s to think about. Possibly get a few hundred bucks to defray expenses. Let’s toss it around.
