[Board] FW: Plano Community Band - All American 4th

Traditionally we have done July 3 for our Patriotic.

My first inclination is to say "Yes to the 4th".   
1. The City is asking
2. Huge crowd
3. Possible expenses defrayed

How would that fit into a TBA schedule if we get the invitation?  Everyone knows the Patriotic Music from years of performing.  Last 15 minutes of May rehearsals for July 4 band?

Here’s a little something to think about. COP is interested in us playing at the fireworks show. HUGE audience! HOT!  July 4th falls on a Monday this year, so we would be planning to do the Haggard Park gig in competition with the fireworks?  1st Methodist does their indoor Patriotic Pops concert before the fireworks, but that audience is just a speck compared to the masses on the hillside. Lot’s to think about. Possibly get a few hundred bucks to defray expenses. Let’s toss it around.

Does the community band have interest in performing an evening set at Oak Point Park on July 4, 2016?

We are looking at expanding the event into something more than “just” the night-time fireworks.
